Congrats to Jenna Gibson on graduating Saturday and her Fulbright to go to South Korea.
Her experience at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln connected her to new opportunities to pursue what’s important to her.
“I really see the importance of having an informed public, and especially when it comes to international issues, I think we don’t have an informed public,” she said. “I see this gap and I see that there are huge consequences to that, so it’s really important to me to work on that.”
More on her story here.

When the earthquake hit this morning, UNL Economics Professor Carlos Asarta was touring Tokyo Tower (he’s scheduled to present a seminar at Waseda University tomorrow).
He was able to share this video. I love how he ends with the message to his students that he plans to be in class on Monday!
Asarta received the Association of Students at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln (ASUN) Outstanding Educator of the Year in November. He grew up in Spain and came to UNL to both swim and receive his college education. Asarta received his bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate at UNL and now teaches Principles of Macro and Microeconomics and the Intermediate Microeconomic Theory courses.
Go Big Red.
